Oil and fuel spill kits are designed to contain and clean up spills involving diesel, petrol, hydraulic oil and other hydrocarbons. Available in sizes from 40L to 770L, these kits use water-repellent absorbents that work on wet surfaces and water. Suitable for workshops, fuel storage areas, transport yards and marine sites, the range includes portable kits and larger spill response bins, with oil and fuel absorbents available for restocking.

The defining feature of an oil spill kit is what it leaves behind. The absorbents are hydrophobic, so they take up hydrocarbons and shed water rather than soaking it up. On a wet hardstand, in a yard after rain, or on the surface of a marina, that means the full absorbent capacity goes to the fuel or oil instead of being wasted on water. A general purpose kit in the same conditions saturates with rainwater long before it has dealt with the spill.
That makes oil and fuel kits the right specification wherever hydrocarbons are the dominant risk and the location is exposed. Bowsers and refuelling points, bulk diesel stores, transport and plant yards, workshops with hydraulic and engine oil, and any operation near water all fit the profile. The absorbents also float, which is what allows the same technology to work on spills that have reached a waterway.
Kit sizing steps from portable through to major incident capacity. The 40L and 80L kits are carry formats for a vehicle, a plant room or a single refuelling point. The 120L and 240L kits sit in labelled wheelie bins for fuel stores and workshop floors. The 400L and 770L kits move into major response territory, with the 770L carrying 400 pads, 20 minibooms, five pillows, an absorbent roll, 20kg of floorsweep, a broom, a spark-proof shovel, and four sets of gloves, safety glasses and overalls, in a 660L labelled bin. Refill kits are available for the 120L, 240L, 400L and 770L, so a used kit can be brought back to full rather than replaced.
An oil spill kit holds hydrophobic absorbents that take up hydrocarbons and repel water, together with gloves and disposal materials. It is built for fuel, diesel and oil rather than mixed liquids.
The fibres are treated so they only take up hydrocarbons. That keeps the full absorbent capacity available for the spill instead of being consumed by rainwater or washdown.
Yes. Diesel, petrol, hydraulic oil, engine oil and other petroleum-based liquids are all hydrocarbons, and oil and fuel absorbents are made for the group rather than a single product.
Size against the largest credible spill at that point. A vehicle or single refuelling point may need 40L, a fuel store 120L or 240L, and bulk storage or a tank farm 400L or 770L.
Twenty minibooms in two lengths, 400 absorbent pads, five pillows, an absorbent roll, 20kg of floorsweep, a brush and pan set, a broom, a spark-proof shovel, four sets of gloves, safety glasses and overalls, 20 disposal bags and a 660L labelled bin.
Fuel vapour is flammable. A spark-proof shovel reduces ignition risk when moving absorbed product or contaminated floorsweep during a hydrocarbon spill response.
The absorbents float and repel water, so they work on spills that have reached a waterway. For dedicated on-water response, a marine kit adds floating booms with snap hooks and ropes
Use oil and fuel where hydrocarbons dominate, and the area is exposed to water. Use general purpose where the inventory is mixed and the area is indoors and dry.
Yes. Refill kits are available for the 120L, 240L, 400L and 770L kits, restoring the absorbent contents without replacing the bin. Loose pads, minibooms and floorsweep can also be bought separately.
It is cut to length and laid where leaks are expected, such as under plant or along a walkway, so drips are caught continuously rather than cleaned up each time.
Saturated absorbents hold the fuel or oil and carry its hazard. They need bagging, labelling and disposal through the arrangements that apply to hydrocarbon waste at your location.
Pillows hold more than a pad and suit deeper pools or awkward spots under machinery, where a flat pad cannot reach or would saturate too quickly.
